About the Revival
Doggie Diner is coming back! We’re bringing the nostalgic charm of the beloved Bay Area hot dog chain to Napa Valley. Even the original long-lost Doggie Head sign that sits high above the restaurant, greeting everyone who passes by will be making his first appearance since 1986.
Doggie Diner reviver, Kip Atchley, searched long and hard (10 months of begging, to be exact) for the 7-foot original chef hat, bow-tie wearing dachshund mascot. When the restaurants closed in the 1980s after almost 40 years of business, many of the Doggie Diner heads went to collectors. But lucky for Kip, he heard some buzzin’ about a collector in Northern California who had just what he needed—an original 1940s fiberglass dachshund head. And there you have it, the Napa Valley Doggie Diner recreation project was born.
Kip envisions a revival of the restaurant where delicious food and a fun environment will delight its guests, just like it once did. Doggie Diner in Napa Valley will be an actual reproduction of the 1940s diner, with a few extra touches that guests are sure to love!
Just like they were, Doggie Diner Dogs will be made from premium quality, choice cut, 100% beef, and a secret recipe of spices and herbs. Plus, we’re expanding the menu to include more diner favorites, including pastrami sandwiches, grilled cheese melts, fries, shakes, and fresh squeezed lemonade. And if you love ice cream, you’re certainly in for a treat!
